While going through this incredible journey that is pregnancy, there are some extra needs to adjust to the changes in our body. With a growing belly comes stretched skin and possible itchiness. Being that a good portion of my pregnancy coincided with winter, I knew my skin would need some extra love to stay moisturized to deal with the growth of my bump and the dry weather.
I wanted to make my own all natural and simple recipe that I could whip up at home throughout my pregnancy as needed. I narrowed it down to just 3 ingredients! You only need a few tools (that you may already have) to make this whipped butter and you'll be well on your way to softer skin.

Ingredients
1 cup of shea butter
1/2 cup mango butter
1/8 cup almond oil

Yield: approximately 20 oz.

Tools
  • A food processor (I'd recommend getting one specifically for DIY products or using a particular mixing bowl for such products)
  • Measuring cup
  • Silicone spatula or other handheld spatula or spoon

If you have a hard time finding any of these ingredients, I found all of mine on Amazon:

Instructions
1. Soften the butters using the double boiler method. Boil some water and place in a glass bowl. Then add the butter to a smaller glass dish and place inside of the original bowl. This allows for gentle softening of the butter which results in a smoother butter. Let sit for about 10 mins.
2. Once the butters have softened, add all ingredients into the food processor. Blend until well combined. Stop periodically to scrape down the sides as needed.
3. Once fully blended into a smooth consistency, pour into a glass container. I used a mason jar. Then voila! You’re ready to use.

While I created this primarily for my belly, it really feels great all over! Use it as a fully body butter. Using while the skin is damp and fresh out the shower is my favorite time to use it. Packed with vitamins and healing properties, this butter is ultra moisturizing, nourishing, and melts right into the skin. If you try it out, let me know what you think! I promise your skin will thank you.
