I, like many others, was so excited to try this new brand! Prior to getting a protective style put in, I had been using Melanin Haircare’s Twist Elongating cream as part of my weekly wash day routine. This company is new to the game but it’s creator is not. Whitney White aka Naptural85 has been a natural hair vlogger for the last decade. She is well known in the natural hair community (one of my faves) and it’s great to see her start this new venture! Her and her sister have been creating their products for the past 6 years and recently launched Melanin Haircare.
I decided to incorporate their Twist Elongating Cream to my usual wash day flow. It typically goes in the following order: cleansing, deep conditioner, quick conditioner, leave-in, cream styler, then air dry. I started with week-old hair that was styled in a twist-out and stretched via bun styles throughout the week. In the shower I cleansed my hair, applied a deep conditioner (hopped out to let it sit covered for about 20-30 mins), rinsed, conditioned and then rinsed again.
For years shampoos have had a bad reputation in the natural hair community. There are several reasons why, with the main one being their tendency to strip moisture from our hair while cleansing. This leaves us with hair that feels stiff, stringy and sometimes straw-like after washing with a traditional shampooo. This is largely due to the fact that most traditional shampoos on the market are not formulated for naturally curly, kinky and/or coily hair.
Fortunately, there are brands that seek to rectify this issue with moisturizing shampoos or cleansing conditioners. G3 Naturals is one of those brands and I’m excited to share my experience using their Hair Bathe in lieu of traditional shampoo! Here’s a brief introduction to this newer brand that you need to know:
“Who is G3 Naturals? G³ Naturals is a 3-generational company that specializes in all natural handcrafted hair, body and cleaning products. We believe that the best things in life come from nature in its purest form.”
A family brand that is all natural and handcrafted; I love what they’re about!
In a recent post I discussed the Curlbox I received featuring Obia Naturals. I used most of the products during that wash day, and finally tried the others recently! So in this post I will be sharing my review of the Babassu Therapy Hair Mask and the Sweet Almond Heavy Cream.
Today I'm excited to share with you my review of the CurlBox Natural I recently received featuring Obia Naturals! If you're not already familiar with CurlBox, it is a monthly subscription box filled with goodies for curly hair (and sometimes body products). Every so often, they have special, non-subscription boxes that you can order to receive great products in a discounted bundle.
This particular box is the last of their CurlBox Natural series. Here's why they are ending this particular series (from their email):
"When curlBOX Natural launched 6 years ago, the idea was to feature under-the-radar brands without a large reach that featured all natural ingredients. Our mission has been accomplished and healthy, quality products are no longer an exception but the norm! Thanks to social media and word of mouth, previously small brands are creating demand to land on your favorite store shelves. For the final curlBOX Natural, we’re featuring a line that perfectly represents this shift—Obia Naturals (@obianaturals)."
It makes perfect sense to me as I've noticed the growing demand for such products over the years. I love this because I recall early on in my natural hair journey when it was hard to find (especially in stores) products that offered quality, all natural ingredients for curly and kinky hair. Now, products such as the ones I will be reviewing today are much easier to find. Below you will see what I received from Curlbox! *This is not a sponsored post. I purchased this Curlbox myself and this review is based on my own opinions based on my experience using these products.*
Throughout my natural hair journey, I’ve noticed how much my hair has thrived when using all natural products. I have tried several great brands over the years but I recently tried one new to me: Mielle Organics. I decided to try the Leave-in and Twisting Soufflé from their new Pomegranate & Honey line.
FabFitFun is a seasonal subscription box that combines fun items in beauty, fashion, fitness and wellness for its members four times a year. Per their website, "Each box is limited edition and contains $200+ in retail value. Boxes are shipped in March, June September and December." I received a smaller starter box from a friend in the summer (which I loved!) and just recently received the full sized Fall box from FabFitFun. First of all, I’m a sucker for pretty packaging so I was already pleased with the presentation. Also, this is not a sponsored post, this box was purchased by me personally.
Beaming, clear and unicorn-kissed skin is what we as women tend to dream of waking up to each morning. The reality is that environmental factors, sun exposure, our diets, etc can often impede that dream. However, quality, natural and affordable skin care can be hard to come by. Over the years more and more companies have emerged into this market. Plant-based nutritionist and author Kimberly Snyder highly recommends the Antioxidant Skin Boost from Sally B's Skin Yummies for radiant skin. This company is based right here in Atlanta, GA and they create cosmetic and skin care products using all natural, organic and non-toxic ingredients. Being that I love all natural products and supporting local businesses, I had to give it a try!
When I received my order, it came with three samples of a few of their other skin care products and a cute thank you note. I love little touches like that!
