It makes perfect sense to me as I've noticed the growing demand for such products over the years. I love this because I recall early on in my natural hair journey when it was hard to find (especially in stores) products that offered quality, all natural ingredients for curly and kinky hair. Now, products such as the ones I will be reviewing today are much easier to find. Below you will see what I received from Curlbox! *This is not a sponsored post. I purchased this Curlbox myself and this review is based on my own opinions based on my experience using these products.* The CurlBox contained the following from Obia Naturals: the Coconut Shea Shampoo Bar, Babassu Deep Conditioner, Babassu Therapy Hair Mask, Twist Whip Butter, Sweet Almond Heavy Cream, and the Curl Hydration Spray. For this particular wash day, I used the Coconut Shea Shampoo Bar, Babassu Deep Conditioner and the Twist Whip Butter. I'll outline my process below. Cleansing Personally, I hadn't used a shampoo bar since I was transitioning several years ago. From previous shampoo bars I have used, I did not have high expectations for this one. I started with very dry hair that had some product buildup from the week (see below) . Per the instructions, I drenched my hair in the shower. I then divided it into four sections to allow for thorough cleansing and to make it easier to detangle. Then I gently rubbed the shampoo bar at the roots of my hair and massaged at the scalp. A nice lather formed and I spread this through the length of my hair to cleanse thoroughly. I loved that there was a thick lather to work with and did not expect that from a shampoo bar. It also helped tremendously with detangling which is a nice bonus! After rinsing it out, my hair definitely felt clean without feeling stripped of moisture. Before using the products on my hair (an old twist out). Deep Conditioner Next up, I divided my hair again into four sections and applied the Babassu Deep Conditioner. When applying it, i payed extra attention to the ends of my hair as they are the oldest and need some extra moisturizing. To amp up the deep conditioning process, I covered my hair with a plastic cap and wrapped a warm towel around it. The warmth from the towel would help to open up the hair shaft to allow the deep conditioner to really get in there and do its job. I let this sit for 30 minutes. After rinsing it out, my hair felt well moisturized, even more detangled and rejuvenated. Check, check and check! Leave-in & Set On wet, clean, and deep conditioned hair, I then went to the Twist Whip Butter. Again I worked with the four main sections of hair I created and divided each into two smaller sections. I set my hair for a twist-out with a total of 8 twists. The butter has a nice light consistency and scent that isn't overpowering, but light and pleasant. It's very moisturizing, does not weigh down the hair and absorbs well. I let my hair start to air dry for a couple hours uncovered , tied it down with a satin scarf before bed, and let it continue air drying overnight. Twists set for bed Twist-out The next morning my hair was mostly dry when I was ready to take out my twists. I rubbed a little bit of argan oil on my hands before untwisting to help reduce the frizz. My hair was soft, well moisturized and had a nice sheen to it (even prior to touching it with my hands covered in argan oil). Unfortunately, there was some frizz due to my hair not being completely dry. At the time I was on my way to the gym so I was taking it out only to put my hair up in a bun for my workout. Second Day Hair That night I refreshed my hair a bit with the Curl Hydration Spray and applied a small amount of the Twist Whip Butter to each of 8 braids I set for a braid-out the next day. Below you will see my second day results (less shrinkage) which I LOVED even more! The combination of the Curl Hydration Spray plus the Twist Whip Butter is amazing for moisture and shine! I would recommend using this combination right after washing and deep conditioning. Second and third day hair tends to be my favorite after wash days. Overall, I am loving Obia Naturals and look forward to trying the other products in the CurlBox. If you're looking for a great all natural brand to try, definitely check out Obia Naturals for some quality and effective products for your curly/kinky hair! Also, a big thank you to CurlBox for always including amazing brands at a great price for us naturals to try!
